Morning Brown Rice Bowl

Morning porridge does not have to be oatmeal!  Other grains offer nutritional and taste variety.  Get in the habit of making a big pot of brown rice and use some, freeze some and keep in the fridge up to 4 days for leftovers!

Cook brown rice until very soft, or use leftover brown rice. 

Don't forget to top with fruit!

Ingredients: 

Brown rice, cooked until soft

Optional:

  • plant milk to splash on 
  • fruit of any kind, particularly berries, thawed frozen is fine
  • cinnamon to sprinkle on top
  • nuts or seeds to sprinkle on top
  • splash of maple syrup
Instructions: 

Cook brown rice until very soft, or use leftover brown rice and simmer in some water or plant milk, with a dash of cinnamon and a few raisins.  Top with thawed or fresh blueberries.  Add a splash or plant milk, some sliced almonds, cinnamon, and/or a drizzle of maple syrup, if desired.
